Daphnee's Birth Story

It all started at 10:00 A.m. on the morning of August 20, 2008. I went into my scheduled appointment to see how much I was dilated. I was dilated to a 2 and I was 70 - 80 % effaced. Jean stripped my membranes and gave me a hypothetical situation. She said, "Okay you will start labor at 3 P.M. come to the Birth Center at 5 P.M. have the baby at 7P.M. Go home at 9 P.M." I was okay with this scenario, but apparently Daphnee wasn't. At about 12:00 I started having contractions. I sat down to eat lunch and they were getting stronger each time. By 12:25 I started to write down the times that I would have contractions. They were about 3 minutes apart, but the contractions were getting stronger by the minute. At about 1:30 I called Russ and told him that I was in labor. He got a ride home from work. We also called our friend to come and take McKaylee. By this time my contractions were so bad that I could barely walk. Russ made it home in record time. We got McKaylee settled with the baby sitter and left. On the way to the Birth Center I had the urge to push. My mom was yelling at me to try as hard as I could not to push. Russ for the first time in his life, drove like a maniac ( I am so proud of him) When we got to the Birth Center at 2:35 P.M. We rushed in and immediately I had Jean, Lynne and Cheritee helping me out. Jean checked me and I was dilated to a 10! My water broke and I told Jean that I wanted to give birth in the water. I got in the tub. I was having another contraction! This one I really had the urge to push. Jean told me that I needed to sit down, but I was literally frozen I couldn't move. They helped me sit down. I pushed and there was Daphnee! I wish that I would have had a camera to get the look on Russ' face! Classic! He couldn't believe that she was here already. 2 minutes after we arrived at the Birth Center! I was told, " That's a record" If that is a record I guess that Daphnee is my gold medal! Daphnee weighed in at 7 lbs. 4 oz. She was 19.5 inches long! She is so beautiful!

We are so thrilled to have Daphnee here! McKaylee loves her little sister. She is very interested in Daphnee, she barely wants to come and see me!

I want to thank Jean for all that she has done for me throughout the pregnancy. She made the experience exactly what I wanted. Thanks to all my friends and family for their prayers and support! Thanks to Russ for being an awesome husband! We love you all! Welcome Daphnee!

We will be posting more pictures of Daphnee at a later date!

Ashlee also forgot to mention that they literally threw McKaylee at me when I came to pick her up and they were out of the door so fast they forgot to give me diapers and wipes. Luckily I had a neighbor with diapers...hopefully Daphnee is as easy as McKaylee!

She is adorable . Danielle told me your story this morning and I was in shock. That is crazy, but I told her if you are going to do it natural, that is the way to have it happen. I'm glad you are all ok. Let me know if you need anything.

Congratulations! I am so excited to hear that it went fast for you. I am also glad to hear that Russ has the "crazy driver" genes in him:) I can't wait to come see her. I'm sure I'll be bringing a meal next week:) Of course you know too that McKaylee will be needing me to come over next week to play while mommy sleeps!

I'm so happy she's here. I still can't believe you didn't have her in the car. No wonder you had to hand McKaylee off so fast- I wouldn't have thought about petty diapers! I know you'll do great. You're such a good mom. Too bad being two days late made you look disorganized. We all know you're not. Welcome Home Daphnee!
